Nokia Mobile announces Nokia X30 5G, Nokia G60 5G, Nokia C31, Nokia T21 tablet and new accessories

Nokia Mobile organized an event ahead of the official start of the IFA2022 event where new smartphones, tablet and audio accessories were announced. The new Nokia devices are Nokia X30 5G, Nokia G60 5G, Nokia C31, Nokia T21 tablet, Nokia Portable speaker 2 and Nokia Clarity Earbuds 2 Pro. Nokia Mobile focused a lot on sustainable circular production processes and all of their new products and packaging are made of recycled materials. This means that all of the devices should be able to make its user happy for at least two years without any problems and after they could be sold, refurbished or repurposed as a material for the production of new devices. The new subscription service called Circular will ensure the sustainability of the new business direction Nokia Mobile is taking.

Let’s meet all the new Nokia devices and gadgets starting with the best they have to offer at IFA2022.

Nokia X30 5G

The most exciting newcomer is Nokia X30 5G, the next step in the X series, a phone that finally brings AMOLED and OIS back to Nokia smartphones, efficient Snapdragon 695 5G processor, but with some setbacks like the loss of audio jack, MicroSD card slot and iconic centrally positioned camera module. But overall the X30 5G brings all that most of us want, a nicely balanced midrange phone with a great camera, durable water-resistant (IP67 rating) body and nice display.

So, the display of X30 is AMOLED but it only has a 90 Hz refresh rate which should be enough for a smooth running of Android 12 graphics. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus we saw at XR20 which is nice and should make its under-display fingerprint scanner scratch free or take scratches slower than with Gorilla Glass 5.

The most interesting bit about X30 is definitely its main camera. It is cased in a square module which is now simpler since it just houses main and UW sensors. The main camera has a 50MP AF sensor backed by optical image stabilization. The pixels can be connected together to create a brighter image by using pixel-binning technology. The ultra-wide 13MP camera is also going to use the main camera to create better ultra-wide shots which is also something new. The front camera is not as powerful as in X20, but the 16MP sensor also uses pixel-binning technology and that should be enough to create nice well-lit photos.

The 4200mAh battery should be enough to keep the device running for a day, and 33W fast charging will ensure occasional quick top-ups. Nokia X30 5G should be available immediately in white and blue colours which all look great. The price is set at 529€ (which is similar in USD) and around 42,269.22 Indian Rupee.

Nokia G60 5G

While X30 might take the spotlight, Nokia G60 5G is also a nice device with a capable SD695 5G processor, 50 MP main camera, 2K LCD display with 120 Hz refresh rate, Nano SIM/MicroSD hybrid slot and 3.5 mm audio jack. Interestingly, G60 is a real improvement over the G50 and this device is coming with Gorilla Glass 5 which means that the era of preapplied screen protectors is gone in the upper segment of the G series.

Furthermore, G60 5G is coming with an IP52 rating, NFC, a side-mounted fingerprint reader and a bunch of sensors like in the X30. Its 4500mAh battery can be charged by 20W fast charging for 800 charging cycles without any problems or loss of capacity.

Nokia C31

Nokia C31 is on first look just another entry device, but when you check the specs, it is ready for the fight in the entry-level class of phones. You can get it with an internal memory of up to 128 GB followed by 4GB of RAM. The main camera with a 13MP sensor should make decent photos that you can check on a 6.7-inch LCD display with FHD+ resolution.

The phone comes with a hybrid  MicroSD slot, 3.5 mm jack, a radio that requires a headset to run, a large 5050 mAh battery charged with a 10W charging process and all packed in IP52 rated body that comes in three colours. Nokia C31 is running the Unisoc 9863A1 octa-core processor, which will function well and ensure you have a decently rounded basic smartphone.

So, the mint or cyan Nokia C31 is the question!?

Nokia T21 tablet

Nokia T20 was, and still is, a success. However, some hardware specs needed to be corrected and Nokia Mobile seems to have been listening to its fans. Nokia T21 is bringing again a 2K display and OZO Playback, but this time HD streaming is included, as well as the support for the active pen (stylus) and a Second screen for PC. This should increase the productivity factor of Nokia’s new tablet.

Nokia Mobile is still using Unisoc processors and T21 is coming with Unisoc T612 (2xA75 and 6xA55 1.8G). It has Bluetooth 5.0 and GPS with GLONASS and GALILEO which is nice. The large 8200 mAh battery is still there to keep it running for days. The battery should endure up to 800 charging cycles without experiencing any significant problems which is also the case for other Nokia devices.

The design is a bit more refined with that plastic upper part which ensures a better antenna signal. However, the rest of the body is made of aluminium which means that T21 is also as durable as T20. This tablet will be available in grey colour but in two variants, WiFi only and 4G variant with a price starting from 219 €.

Audio accessories

Nokia Mobile is also bringing some nice eco-friendly audio accessories. New Nokia Portable Wireless Speaker 2 is waterproof (IPX7), and brings 22 hours of playtime through its 5W speakers. It has a built-in microphone for calls, a passive subwoofer, connects with the phone over Bluetooth 5.1 and can be connected with other speakers for stereo play. The speaker will be available later this year in its eco-friendly box.

Nokia Clarity Earbuds 2 Pro are a true improvement over the previous model. Nokia Mobile needed stylish earbuds to succeed BH-805 which weren’t that great. New Clarity Earbuds Pro is coming with hybrid Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) for a noise-free listening experience and Ambient mode for listening with environment sound. There is also an Environmental Noise Cancelling (ENC) that should make the calls more understandable.

The best about these is the ability to quickly connect and stay connected on two devices simultaneously. The 13 mm large neodymium drivers deliver rich, balanced sound for up to 28 hours on a charge from a 60 mAh battery in buds and a 500 mAh additional battery hidden in the charging case. The buds also have IPX4 sweat and splash rating and I should mention that you can charge them wirelessly. Unfortunately, we will see them in the first month of 2023.

Circular

Nokia Mobile is also launching a new subscription program called Circular. This is a new subscription service centred around sustainability and keeping your device out of landfill. The longer you keep your device, the more credits you’ll receive to use towards charitable efforts and a range of causes focusing on sustainability. Subscribers should have the freedom to eventually decide to return or replace their phone after an initial three-month period. Then they will be able to choose from the latest Nokia devices which include just announced devices.

At first, Circular will be available in the UK and Germany for Nokia G60 5G, Nokia XR20 and Nokia T10. Nokia X30 5G and Nokia T21 will be added to the list when they become available. S Circular is also coming for businesses, where this service will provide the first truly sustainable subscription model for Android Enterprise. Subscription devices will be quickly replaced in case of accidental damage, loss, or theft. A unique Circular subscription will be available for business customers in Q4 2022
