Nokia T20 tablet with Unisoc CPU and Android 11 tested on Geekbench

HMD Global is almost halfway down the line with its brand licensing contract with Nokia, but it is only now that Nokia Mobile will be venturing into the tablets business. The company will begin with the Nokia T20 from its new T series dedicated to tablets.

A few weeks ago, some UAE and UK distributors also added the unreleased device to their catalogue. The listings stated that T20 features a 10.36-inch screen and 4 GB of RAM with 64 GB of internal storage. It will come in Blue color and in two variants that differ based on the connectivity they offer. One of them will be 4G enabled, while the other will support only Wi-Fi.

The retailers expect its price to be:

• 4G variant: £202 (€237, ₹20780, US$280); £168 (€197, ₹17320, US$233) without VAT.
• Wi-Fi variant: £185 (€217, ₹19070, US$257); £154 (€181, ₹15890, US$214) without VAT.

The pricing gives some hints about the tablet, but now there is a much better source. It is none other than Geekbench, as the Nokia T20 with 4 GB RAM operating on Android 11 appeared for its first test on the benchmarking site. It recorded a Vulkan score (3D graphics performance) of 807. The sighting also confirms the codename “Riddler,” which was first revealed by @evleaks.

The most important bit is the details about the processor. Nokia Mobile has opted for an octa-core Unisoc processor, with all the cores clocked at 1.82 GHz and Mali G52 as the GPU. It does not disclose the exact processor, but as per the available information, it should be either Unisoc’s Tiger T610, T618, or T700.

All three processors house two ARM Cortex A75 cores and six ARM Cortex A55 cores. Unisoc T610 and T700 can have all eight cores clocked at up to 1.8 GHz, while it can go up to 2 GHz for the Unisoc T618. There are some tablets by Teclast and Alldocube based on Unisoc T618 and T610.

On the other hand, Unisoc T700 is relatively new, and currently, it is shipping with only one device, the Moto G20. We will have to wait for some more time to reach any conclusion regarding the processor.

Not many brands are offering tablets at this price point, so it is a good chance for Nokia Mobile to cover that ground. However, tablets require a bit more polishing in terms of the UI than what the smartphones demand, so it will be interesting to see how Nokia Mobile has planned things with the Nokia T20.
