Unboxing of Withings Move ECG activity tracker watch

A French company best known for their activity trackers and its brief history as a Nokia Health, Withings, sent us their latest Withings Move ECG watch for a test. Move ECG is essentially a Move watch or a simple activity tracker with a possibility to do a nice ECG based on a single source and show you the altitude. Move ECG was announced back at CES 2019, and it was one of the first trackers to come with the possibility to do an electrocardiogram. ECG is important because you can easily notice if your P wave is irregular and you might be having an Afib, which is a cause of many modern heart-related diseases. The watch is measuring the ECG thanks to the three electrodes, two on the back and one on the ring.
Another great thing about this hybrid watch is the fact that it is waterproof up to 50m and the battery lasts up to 18 months.

The outer design of the box is similar to the one Nokia used to ship with Steel HR watch, but the internal box does show you that Move ECG is an affordable device. It has an organic look, and the watch is presented simply in a textile bag. Below the watch, you get a rather modern-looking, quite short manual and that is it.

The watch itself is bubbly, with 36mm plastic body with metal crown and 18 mm strap. The Move ECG looks tiny next to my 46mm Huawei Watch GT. But at least Move ECG’s battery last 54 times more.

Unfortunately, the Move ECG doesn’t support notifications, but it will track your activity automatically or on-demand, it does have a connected GPS feature, altimeter and tracks sleep. It doesn’t have a heart rate, but when you are measuring ECG, you get a heart rate.
The 18mm strap is silicon-based, same as in Steel HR, and it does have a quick release system built-in.
The Health Mate app does cover all the functionalities of the watch. You will be using the app quite often to see how does your ECG looks like, but the watch will sync the data with the app when you open it.

We’ll be testing it in the coming weeks, so if you have any questions, just leave them in the comments.
