Nokia and Google cloud to work on cloud-native 5G networks

In October 2020, Nokia announced it is moving its IT infrastructure to Google Cloud. This opened new cooperation between these two companies, which resulted in a new strategic partnership that will be bringing jointly develop cloud-native 5G core solutions for communication service providers and enterprise customers. With this, Nokia will improve its cloud capabilities and accelerate digital transformation for enterprises.

Modern networks will be built on a cloud-native 5G Core, which will offer some new monetization opportunities for carriers around the world. Nokia will be providing 5G operations services and networking capabilities, while Google will be offering its Cloud AI, ML, and analytics technologies, which are running on the Anthos Telecom platform.

It seems that Google is slowly becoming Microsoft and also entering the Telco business through its cloud services.
