Nokia G50 is the affordable 5G midranger

Nokia Mobile launched refreshed its G series of Nokia phones with the Nokia G50 and bumped up the hardware of these affordable midrangers. Nokia G50 hardware specifications might sound familiar since it shares the same Snapdragon 480 5G processor as Nokia X10, Nokia X20 and Nokia XR20, but there are some other similarities with the latest Nokia smartphones. Nokia G50 is bringing a 48 MP main camera followed by a 5 MP ultra-wide and 2 MP depth sensor.

There is also an 8 MP selfie shooter that brings digital video stabilisation, a 5000 mAh battery that can be quickly charged by an 18W charger, and a large 6.82” HD+ LCD screen that has a standard 60 Hz refresh rate. The main differentiating point from X20, X10 or G20 is the lack of ZEISS optics and price. Nokia G50 will cost £199 in the UK, which is 231€ or super affordable for a 5G capable phone.

The design of the G50 seems borrowed from the previous models also, except the teardrop or v-notch selfie cam and new Ocean Blue (Blue) and Midnight Sun (Pink) colours which will have a similar flair effect behind the mat glass back. The 8MP selfie shooter is improved with digital stabilization which should make it better for low light or indoor video calls, which is quite popular now during the COVID pandemic.

Nokia G50 might be an affordable 5G capable midranger but the device is coming with a bunch of sensors like an ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, 6-axis accelerometer, gyroscope and e-compass. The side fingerprint sensor is also there as well as the Google Assistant dedicated button which unfortunately can’t be reprogrammed but can be disabled through settings.
The device also supports Bluetooth 5, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax-ready, numerous positioning systems (GPS/AGPS, BDS/Galileo), NFC and there is a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
