Nokia 8.3 5G showing up with Android 11 on Geekbench
The year 2020 is coming to an end and Android 11 is still nowhere to be seen for newly announced Nokia smartphones, Nokia 8.3 5G, Nokia 5.4, or Nokia 3.4 and Nokia 2.4, which are marketed as Android 11 ready. By the way, our Nokia 3.4 is still on the October security update, but that is a whole different story.
There is no Android 11 update for some older Nokia smartphones like Nokia 2.2, Nokia 5.3, and Nokia 8.1, which were scheduled to get it somewhere at the end of Q4 2020 and early Q1 2021 according to the released Android 11 Update roadmap. Nokia Mobile didn’t start the open Beta Labs testing for the new version of Android this year as it did before with Nokia 8.1 and Nokia 7 Plus.
But, it seems that the new version of Android is being tested on Nokia 8.3 5G according to Geekbench. The first 8.3 running Android 11 was spotted on December 24th, and the scores it got were lower than the scores for Android 10, which means that there is still some tuning up to be done.
Well, maybe it is better to perfect the update, polish all the noticed issues, and release it in 2021, or just release it now and blame all the issues on the year 2020 🙂
