Rumors: Not much time left before the announcement of Nokia 6.2 and Nokia 5.2
For a while we didn’t hear any rumors/news about new Nokia smartphones and maybe that’s for the better considering that Nokia Mobile already has a huge portfolio of devices. Pulling the breaks on volume and focusing on less phones that should be more competitive on the market is probably a better strategy than filling every price point with similar devices.
At MWC2019 we saw the new Nokia 1 Plus, Nokia 3.2, Nokia 4.2 and Nokia 9 PureView in terms of smartphones. While the Nokia 3.2 and 4.2 look excellent, they aren’t really priced competitively enough, at least in markets like India. They do target the offline domain and will most likely replace the Nokia 3.1 and 5.1, while we are still waiting for something more aggressively priced like the Nokia 6.1 Plus and 5.1 Plus were last year.
Nokia Mobile did announce the Nokia X71 in China and Taiwan. A very interesting device that brought a lot of new features in the mid-range price category, but from the announcement of X71 competitors announced phones with punch-hole displays, telephoto cameras, 48MP cameras and better hardware for lesser price, so the advantage Nokia Mobile potentially had in launching the X71 early in markets like Europe where the competition isn’t as tough as in Asia is long gone.

The new devices we are waiting to see are rumored to be the Nokia 5.2 and Nokia 6.2. As NokiaAnew posts on Twitter, their announcement is not that far away. With the recent troubles of Huawei and Honor, and practically all Chinese companies, the Finland-based HMD Global with the iconic Nokia brand has a great market opportunity. It’s a bit sad that that opportunity is now open not thanks to the “free market” but geopolitical games, but it is what it is. HMD already started a marketing campaign pointing at the companies Finnish origin.
What can we expect the Nokia 5.2 and 6.2 to be like? I know that they shouldn’t be two more mediocre midrange phones priced higher than competitors and they surely should be available for purchase in the first month from announcement.
