Unboxing of Nokia Portable Wireless Speaker SP-101 (manhung.tech)

While Nokia Mobile did bring some good quality audio accessories to the market, one thing where old Nokia excelled and is still missing in the current portfolio is the portable speaker or speakers. Not long ago, actually on September 2020, Nokia Mobile announced its first Wireless Portable Speaker SP-101 to fill the space in the portfolio of audio accessories. This speaker isn’t close to JBL PlayUP or Play 360, but it does bring some specific features that those two legendary speakers were missing.

Here are the basic specs of Nokia SP-101:

  • Dimensions: 86mm (L) x 86mm (W) x 50mm (D) | 164g
  • Battery3: 800 mAh
  • Features: Φ43mm 4Ω 3W
  • Audio specifications: Bluetooth 5.0
  • Connectivity: Micro USB
  • Compatibility: Any Bluetooth audio capable device
  • Price: €35

While Nokia had in mind providing quick connectivity and excellent audio quality for up to 10 hours, Nokia Mobile is bringing 4 hours of playtime, BT 5.0 connectivity, a possibility to connect two of them for stereo output, and a microphone. That four hours of playtime is a bit worrying for me since Coloud Bang MD-1C can offer wired connectivity but up to 10 hours on a single charge. Anyways, the best thing about SP-101 is the insertion of a microphone which means you can take calls over it.

Anyways, manhung.tech unboxed the portable speaker, so check out how the box looks like and what contents it has inside.

The speaker has a small form factor, and it has a cord so you can strap it around your hand or just hang it somewhere while on a picnic. It would be nice to see USB-C charging port there, but that is OK for the price of €35. I hoped to see the speaker coming in colors other than black, but maybe that will happen in the near future.

Now the portfolio of the official accessories looks much better than only a year ago, and the only thing missing is a nice Huawei GT 2 like smartwatch :). Also, it would be great if Nokia Mobile could work a bit more on the availability of the accessories, or at least this one.

This X20 looks nice in the bronze color.

The speaker is available on Amazon France.
