Tempered Blue and Copper #Nokia 6 not coming to #Europe?!
|Ever since HMD Global officially announced Nokia 3, 5 and 6 at MWC17, problems with availability and logistics were following the global rollout of the devices. Lately, the situation improved quite a lot with the devices being available almost on all markets, and Nokia 3 and 5 can be purchased in most, if not all color variants. The problem of availability still exists for Nokia 6’s highly attractive Temper Blue, Copper and Arte Black variants, and it won’t have a happy ending for some markets.
Nokians.fr reports, that a reader sent them the info that HMD Global does not plan to offer Nokia 6 in Copper and Tempered Blue variant on the European markets. The response, in which HMD said that, also states that they will inform the customer (reader) if the decision changes, but at the moment, the two color options will not see European soil. In a separate story published by Suomimobiili.fi few days ago, we learn that only two color options (Black and Silver) of Nokia 6 are available in Finland, with the rest of the color options disappearing from operator’s web pages, indicating that Tempered Blue and Copper won’t be available in Nokia’s homeland. On the other hand, all color variants of Nokia 3 and 5 can be purchased in Finland.
To be honest, I don’t think that is a big deal because Nokia 6 will soon be a year old device, and the question about its successor could soon appear. On the other hand, Nokia 6, 9 months after the announcement, is holding the approximately same price on most webstores, which is a sign that HMD is satisfied with the income generated from the 6. Scraping off some color variants makes sense if HMD plans to introduce the successor soon, but considering that Nokia 6 uses Pure Android and will receive regular updates for more than a year from now, I don’t really see the point of announcing a successor before the second half of next year. In that case, it would be smart to also offer more color variants if the device will be available in the “long” future. Of course, Tempered Blue and Copper are the most beautiful colors in HMD’s color palette and it would be a shame not to see the variants in as many markets as possible.
We contacted our PR contact in HMD about the color availability and Arte Black variant, and we will update the article (or write a new one) when the answer arrives.
