Android 10 GO officially announced. Coming to Nokia 1, Nokia 1 Plus and Nokia 2.1

After officially unveiling Android 10 with a super cool website, Google today announced Android 10 GO edition for affordable Android Go smartphones. The new version of Android Go improves performance, memory management and security, so it should make lower end Android devices even more usable.

Android 10 GO is 10% faster in opening apps compared to Android 9 GO, claims Google. They also implemented a special form of encryption optimized for low-end hardware called Adiantum, which was announced back in February 2019.

Google’s Android Go suite of apps now is 50% lighter on Android 10 GO, allowing users to have more available storage out of the box. Google is also working with 3rd party app developers on developing GO versions of some of the most popular apps as well, and featuring them in the Google Play Store for Android Go devices.

In the last 18 months, over 500 manufacturers have launched more than 1,600 Android (Go edition) device models to 180+ countries including India, South Africa, Nigeria, Brazil, and the United States. – Google Blog

Nokia 1, Nokia 1 Plus and Nokia 2.1 are Android Go devices that will receive Android 10 Go next year. The release of the new version of Android for Nokia 1 Plus is scheduled during Q1 2019, while Nokia 1 and Nokia 2.1 should get Android 10 Go by the end of the first half of 2020.
