Nokia G21 might be getting Android 12 soon

The Nokia G11 Plus is the first Unisoc-powered Nokia device (known to me) that is coming with the Android 12 update. All other already announced devices like G11, G21 or a T20 tablet are still waiting for the next major Android version.

But according to the software update page of Vodafone Australia, the wait might now be over. A Nokiamobster aafuss has reported that Vodafone Australia has published a new weekly list of devices that should receive the next major software update, and the Nokia G21 is on the list.

The carrier mentioned that Android 12 should start rolling out soon for the Nokia G21 4G. However, no exact date was mentioned, which means that it could happen before September 1, when Nokia Mobile plans to release new Nokia smartphones. Or, it could be right after the event.

Either way, the new Nokia devices with Unisoc processors are the only ones that have not received Android 12 yet (with the exception of the Nokia 5.3). Since the latest G-series is expected to have great sales results due to the hardware specs, features, and ultimately the price, it would be nice if the update came soon.

I have played with the G21 a lot and do not find its Unisoc T606 Tiger processor to be a disadvantage when running Android 11. However, Android 12 brings new graphics features, and new processor may need to be tweaked some more, especially for a 90 Hz refresh rate. Either way, I look forward to testing Android 12 on this device.

Cheers to aafuss for the tip ;).
