Nokia XR20 with a square camera module teased on Nokia phones community
|It was just yesterday that Nokia Mobile began promoting the launch of a new smartphone that “will never need a case.” Before anyone else could leak the device, Nokia Mobile decided to reveal the back of the Nokia XR20 in a teaser posted on the home page of the Nokia phones community, which was spotted by LoveNokia.
The image showcases the water protection offered on the Nokia XR20 with water on its body. The smartphone looks thick enough with a textured back. The blue color of the device is somewhat close to the Nokia X20 (of course, not its renders) or even the Nokia 8.3 5G, while the Grey color is not out in the public eye yet.
The biggest change that you will probably observe is the squarish camera housing at the back, which is a welcome change since most of the Nokia phones now have a circular camera module. The region around the cameras is raised to protect them from accidental drops. The Russian retailers did hint that the phone will have only two cameras, which are now visible on the photo, while the other two holes are possibly for the flash. ZEISS also makes an appearance.
The cutout on the side has a button that seems to be the Google Assistant button. The speaker grille no more has circular holes, but the rectangular cutouts go well with the rugged design. It has a USB Type-C port and a 3.5 mm audio jack beside the speaker grille. That is all the image reveals about the phone.
The rest of the specifications include a 6.67-inch FHD+ display and a 4630 mAh battery. There is a dual-camera setup at the back, i.e., a 48 MP primary camera and a 13 MP camera, while the front camera has a resolution of 8 MP. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 480 5G, which we have already seen on the Nokia X20 and Nokia X10. Nokia XR20 will be available with either 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM. The 6 GB variant will have 128 GB of internal storage (expandable up to 512 GB using a micro SD card).
Nokia Mobile’s first rugged smartphone, the Nokia XR20, will go live on July 27 in Blue and Grey colors. As of now, the smartphone is shaping well enough, but then the pricing will be crucial. It will be interesting to see where Nokia Mobile will place it in the portfolio, between the Nokia X20 and Nokia X10, or will it be above the Nokia X20.
Although the device seems to be inclined towards the enterprise segment, it will be a great way to promote the durability of Nokia phones in general and will also help turn heads towards the Nokia world.
