Alleged Nokia Android feature phone appeared on video; Could we see it at Pixel event next month?
|Two months ago we covered a story about an alleged Nokia feature phone, that looks like Nokia 230, but runs some version of Android with Google apps, like Assistant, Maps and more.
The video was posted on Vimeo by rider, who posted it also on steemit. The video shows the menu of the device and Android Assistant in action. In settings, we can also see the device runs on Android 8.1 Oreo and the device is called “Iron GAFP”. Snake is also on board, and everything looks very similar to regular Android in terms of visuals. The phone also stopped working at one point.
Here is the Google Android powered Feature phone by Nokia from rider on Vimeo.
Google has been developing a touchless version of Chrome for feature phones running Android up until this month, when 9to5Google reported that all reference code about feature phones was removed from Android and Chrome. There is still a possibility seeing something about feature phones on the Pixel event next month, but considering Google already invested in KaiOS, developing an Android version for feature phones might be unnecessary.
