Elisa will start using Nokia’s liquid-cooled 5G base stations to lower CO2 emissions

If you start driving your car less and start pedaling more, you won’t save the world by stopping global warming, but you might teach someone to do the same and eventually start a chain reaction. Nokia is doing the same by researching and deploying liquid-cooled 5G AirScale Base Stations. By doing this, operators can cut substantially energy expenses by 30% and lower CO2 emissions by 80%, which is meaningful if you know that fourth of installed base stations are gonna be coming from Nokia (or at least it could in the future).
This is showing Nokia’s commitment to combating climate change and making networking business more sustainable. Nokia is committed to decreasing emissions from its operations by 41 percent by 2030. Nokia also a part of a group of 87 companies at the United Nations climate summit that will try to recalibrate its existing science-based climate targets in line with the 1.5°C warming scenario.

Nokia announced that Finnish operator Elisa will be one of the first to use 5G liquid-cooled base stations which were developed by Nokia Bell Labs. New liquid-cooled sites are silent, require zero maintenance, and can be 50 percent smaller and 30 percent lighter than standard active air conditioning units which will save money for the operators.
It would be nice to see an officially done demo video of those new 5G liquid-cooled radio stations Nokia created. Nokia did publish a video tour around a site where liquid cooled 4G base stations for Elisa were demoed. Anyway, the basic principles are the same so you can check on it below.
