Nokia XR20 5G launched in India for ₹46999 with military standard casing
|Today, Nokia Mobile officially announced the Nokia XR20 for the Indian market. It is strange to see this phone making its way into the country before any of the other 5G Nokia phones since HMD Global was keen on bringing the affordable 5G phones as per the multiple interviews that came quite a few months ago.
Anyways, the Nokia XR20 is something that Nokia Mobile made with durability at the core and crust, but with a design that does not make it look like an industrial ruggedized device. The company is also introducing a couple of firsts with this device, particularly four years of monthly security updates and three years of warranty alongside three years of Android OS upgrades with Android 11 out of the box.
On the durability front, Nokia Mobile has a lot to boast, including the polymer composite back, the Aluminium side panels, the Aluminium core, and the screen that has the toughest glass that they could find, i.e., the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. Not only that, the casing is made as per the MIL-STD-810H military standard, and the phone is IP68 certified that assures up to 1.8 m drop protection and up to 1.5 m water protection for 1 hour.
It has a 6.67-inch FHD+ display that fits in an aspect ratio of 20:9 with a brightness boost of up to 550 nits and is even compatible with wet hands and gloves. There is an 8 MP front camera in the center punch hole. The rear camera module houses a 48 MP primary camera and a 13 MP ultrawide camera with ZEISS Optics.
Nokia Mobile introduced the new time-lapse mode called SpeedWarp with this phone. There is also a setup of dual-tone and single-tone LED flashes at the back. The Nokia XR20 features stereo speakers with a loudness of up to 96 dB paired with sound technologies like OZO Playback and OZO Spatial Audio capture with wind noise reduction.
The processor found in this device is also powering four other Nokia smartphones, and it is none other than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 5G platform. Inside, there is a 4630 mAh non-removable battery, and the company promises a battery life of up to two days on a single charge. It is supported by 18 W fast wired charging and 15 W wireless charging.
In terms of connectivity, the Nokia XR20 supports 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi (a/b/g/n/ac/ax-ready), Bluetooth 5.1, and NFC. Interestingly, it is the first Nokia smartphone to support the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS) called NavIC. The device features a programmable button at the top and an accessory attachment (lanyard) loop at the left corner of the bottom.
The Nokia XR20 for the Indian market is the Dual SIM variant with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage with expandable storage of up to 512 GB using a microSD card.
The device will be up for pre-orders from October 20 to October 29 and will come bundled with the Nokia Power Earbuds Lite and a 1-year screen damage protection plan at no extra cost. Starting from October 30, the Nokia XR20 will be available for ₹46999 through offline retail stores, online shops, and Nokia Mobile’s website.
