Android 9 Pie officially rolling out for Nokia 3 (2017)
One of the first devices Nokia Mobile announced back in Febraury of 2017 just started getting the latest Android 9 Pie update. Nokia 3 was announced alongside Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 at MWC17, and while Nokia 5 and 6 got Pie a few months ago, the 3 always lagged behind because of the MediaTek chipset it uses, that didn’t receive timely support as Qualcomm’s did.

HMD’s CPO Juho Sarvikas announced via Twitter the release of Android 9 Pie for the Nokia 3. It’s great to see a 2 year old low end phones receiving the latest version of Android and HMD delivering on the promise of updating their phones. I know some would want that update to be available sooner, like the moment Google finishes development of a new version, but it’s clear that that isn’t possible for HMD, so users have to wait.
The only device waiting for Android 9 Pie in Nokia’s portfolio is just the Nokia 1 now.
