Nokia Mobile cancelling its participation on MWC2020

After Nokia announced it is cancelling its participation on MWC2020 in Barcelona, Nokia Mobile did the same move. Since the novel coronavirus outbreak is serious and the great effort is taken to minimise the spreading of the virus around the world, many tech companies started pulling out of the MWC2020.
Nokia Mobile stated that the key focus of the company is the health and well-being of its employees and other stakeholders, and that is why they decided to cancel the participation at MWC2020 in Barcelona.
The products that they were planning to announce won’t be cancelled too, and Nokia Mobile will update the media, partners, and customers on a new timeline for their product announcements and probably the way they are planning to announce them.

Here is the full statement for the press.

February 12, 2020, Espoo, Finland
HMD Global has been carefully monitoring the situation following the outbreak of the novel coronavirus. After much deliberation, we have decided to cancel our participation at MWC Barcelona, 2020.
MWC Barcelona has always been a key event in our annual calendar and we were very excited to showcase our new products to our partners, customers, media and fans. However, the health and safety of our employees, customers, and stakeholders is our highest priority.
We believe the prudent decision is to cancel our participation at Mobile World Congress and want to express our sincere thanks to the GSMA and other authorities for their tireless efforts to address the challenges resulting from the novel coronavirus, and they have our full support as they move forward.

We will update the media, our partners and customers on a new timeline for our product announcements.

Now we are waiting for the GSMA meeting this Friday (or even today according to El Pais) to see if the whole congress will be cancelled, which is possible regarding the number of companies is dropping out. Till now TCL, Sony, LG, Ericsson, Nokia, HMD Global, Deutsche Telekom, Orange, BT and many more have cancelled their participation.
