Nokia N139DL with KaiOS 3.0 and 4G support gets Wi-Fi certified
|Nokia Mobile will soon announce at least two new carrier-locked phones with the model numbers N1374DL (TA-1374) and N139DL for the US operator, TracFone. The devices surfaced on the support page on the websites of TracFone and its subsidiary, Net10 Wireless, a few weeks ago. While details about the Nokia N1374DL are available through various certifications, the other device was pretty much a mystery.
It was only yesterday that the Nokia N139DL received its WI-Fi certification, and as it turns out, it is a 4G feature phone based on the recently released KaiOS 3.0 and will support the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band (802.11 b/g/n) with a 20 MHz channel width. The device is secured with up to WPA3 Enterprise and Personal security frames.
Though the Nokia 800 Tough was spotted operating on KaiOS 3.0, the Nokia N139DL will be the first Nokia phone to come pre-installed with this new OS version. KaiOS 3.0 is the result of the partnership between KaiOS and Mozilla to integrate the newer versions of the Gecko browser engine, currently the Gecko 84.0, with KaiOS.

The Nokia N139DL might be the TracFone version of one of the existing KaiOS based Nokia devices, like the Nokia 2720 V Flip for Verizon, or it could altogether be a new phone. The most recent global Nokia phones using KaiOS, the Nokia 8000 4G and Nokia 6300 4G, were announced last year in November.
