Snapdragon 439 powered Nokia smartphone passes BT SIG and FCC (TA-1124)

If you think Nokia 9 PureView is the only phone we are expecting to see soon coming out from HMD’s labs, you might be wrong. Contrary to the Nokia 9 PureView that is rumored to use a (now) last gen SoC, the upcoming low end/midrange phone from HMD under the model number TA-1124 should use the Snapdragon 439, announced in mid 2018.

Nokia TA-1124 passed BT SIG and FCC, and the specs revealed are:

  • 5.99-inch screen
  • Snapdragon 439
  • Dual 13MP + 5MP rear camera, 8MP front camera
  • 2GB RAM, 32GB internal storage
  • NFC support, Bluetooth 4.2
  • Android 9 Pie

Snapdragon 439 was announced in June this year. It’s a 12nm processor consisting of 8 Cortex-A53 cores, so better performance and power efficiency compared to the aging Snapdragon 430 can be expected. You can learn more about Snapdragon 439 here.

Looking at the specs, we could assume that this phone will be placed somewhere between the Nokia 2 and Nokia 5(.1). With the Nokia 8.1, HMD announces that the Company is simplifying its naming scheme, possibly dropping the “plus” in the names of future devices. So I have no idea how will HMD call this smartphone.
